Many of us, when we get over the Big Trouble – whiskey – sit back complacently and begin to enjoy our sobriety.
To work the Program successfully, we must remember “First Things First” and also remember that whiskey is only the first. There are many other conflicts ahead and we must press on to successive victories over our many character defects to achieve a new way of living.
The conflict will never end until you arrive at perfection or, still more probably, the grave.
When you begin to rest complacently on your oars, you will find your boat is drifting downstream.

Vernon Howard’s SECRETS OF LIFE
“Inner-strength is natural and permanent superiority. It is
superiority without vanity. Human beings love to be superior,
feel superior, in a wrong attempt to make them think that it’s
a real and good and necessary state. True and permanent strength
is there all the time in the spiritual world and if you are also
in that spiritual world, then you have it without having any sense
of being superior to anyone else, because superiority in the false
way is in the intellect and intellect only.”

Twenty Four Hours A Day APRIL 14,2016
Thought for the Day
A police captain once told about certain cases he had come across in his police work. The cause of the tragedy in each case was drunkenness. He told his audience about a man who got into an argument with his wife while he was drunk and beat her to death. Then he went out and drank some more. The police captain also told about a woman who got too near the edge of an old quarry hole when she was drunk and fell one hundred and fifty feet to her death. When I read or hear these stories, do I think about our motto: “But for the grace of God”?
Meditation for the Day
I must keep balance by keeping spiritual things at the center of my life. God will give me this poise and balance if I pray for it. This poise will give me power in dealing with the lives of others. This balance will manifest itself more and more in my own life. I should keep material things in their proper place and keep spiritual things at the center of my life. Then I will be at peace amid the distractions of everyday living.
Prayer for the Day
I pray that I may dwell with God at the center of my life. I pray that I may keep that inner peace at the center of my being.
My whole being responds to the thought of life.
I am alive at the great Vitality of spirit.

Abandon yourself to God as you understand God. Admit your faults to
Him and to your fellows. Clear away the wreckage of your past. Give
freely of what you find and join us. We shall be with you in the
Fellowship of the Spirit, and you will surely meet some of us as you
trudge the Road of Happy Destiny. May God bless you and keep you
– until then.

Once we surrender our mind to GOD completely, HE will take care
of us in every way.

Bless our God, O peoples, let the sound of his praise be heard, who
has kept us among the living, and has not let our feet slip. Come and
hear, all you who fear God, and I will tell what he has done for me. I
cried aloud to him, and he was extolled with my tongue. Blessed be
God, because he has not rejected my prayer or removed his
steadfast love from me.
— Psalm 65(66):8-9, 16-17, 20

ACIM Workbook Lesson 105 Insights
“God’s peace and joy are mine.”
God’s peace and joy extend forever. God’s peace and joy extend to me and through me. If I don’t experience God’s peace and joy, I have put up a barrier to its extending through me.
The Holy Spirit will help me remove the barriers to my extending peace and joy if I let Him. The Holy Spirit shines a light on all my barriers to peace and joy and helps me see that they are not real. The Holy Spirit helps me see that the barrier is not what I want and is meaningless.
I cannot receive God’s peace and joy unless I am willing to extend it or give it away. That is the way God’s gifts work. They increase through extension. Today my practice is to extend God’s peace and joy so that I will remember that they are mine. As I learn to connect with the peace and joy in everyone, I will learn that they are mine.
Everything you do should be done with peace.
That is the best medicine for your body, mind, and soul.
It is the most wonderful way to live.
