APRIL 2017 HEARD AT MEETINGS

APRIL 2017 HEARD AT MEETINGS

We all know how to drink and I came here to learn how to not drink. Anonymous
========================================
I drank to separate myself from others.
Anonymous
========================================
I usually get up every morning and say thank you God
for keeping me sober one more day.
Anonymous
========================================
Do I remember the misery, hopefully soon this, and depression of that last day?
I don’t want to forget it.
Anonymous
========================================
I’m the guy talking to the trees and everybody
thinks I’m talking on a Bluetooth.
Anonymous
========================================
We get here sleazy, queasy, and an uneasy.
Anonymous
========================================
I’m a social misfit and I don’t fit anywhere except for right here. Anonymous
========================================
They should have planted us a long time ago but here we are ! Anonymous
========================================
We alcoholics make up a one-man war zone.
Anonymous
========================================
A glass of water gave me the feeling that all is well.
Anonymous
========================================
When we came off the reservations to work in the oil fields we found that the Irish liked fire-water and fighting.
Anonymous
========================================
We’re here by inches and seconds, we should have been planted with weeds a long time ago period
Anonymous
========================================
I wanted to be happy joyous and free and I found it right here. Anonymous
========================================
I love my kids and they have filtered back into my life. I think they love me, they sent my wife and I here to Hawaii.
Anonymous
========================================
We ran a homeless shelter in Boise, Idaho and they all wanted to come in a fight.
Anonymous
========================================
We’re here to pull the arrows out of your ass.
Anonymous
========================================
This is a program that teaches you how to be selfless.
Anonymous
========================================
I have a desire not to drink but not one to stop.
Anonymous
========================================
I received a DUI and that stopped me from going into the military. Anonymous
========================================
I did 45 days for drunk driving.
Anonymous
========================================
I proceeded to get venereal disease and several other diseases. Anonymous
========================================
When I went into treatment and still had this irrational Behavior because that I still trying to control everything.
Anonymous
========================================
My problem was that in treatment I was still trying to manipulate the system.
Anonymous
========================================
I had you start feeling and owning my own feelings
that is probably the hardest part about this program.
Anonymous
========================================
You don’t have to know what you’re feeling you’re just have to have the feelings.
Anonymous
========================================
I was abused sexually when I was young and the alcohol took away the pain.
Anonymous
========================================
I wasn’t a very good wife and my husband would have to pick me up from jail or from the doctor’s office.
Anonymous
========================================
I was soon to realize that alcohol was interfering with the quality of my life.
Anonymous
========================================
Over the years I have found that prayer and meditation help me to not over react.
Anonymous
========================================
Time in the program means that people with egos have to tell them down and then they start to build them up again.
Anonymous
========================================
I always operated under the pretense that you were wrong and I was right.
Anonymous
========================================
At the age of 26 I had no other Solutions in my life other than to die. My fingernails, my whole body was yellow.
Anonymous
========================================
If you’re comfortable in this disease then you’re probably not doing enough.
Anonymous

No one is going to walk the treadmill once and quit, that is not enough. Anonymous My problem is you’re always bad but my Solutions are always worse. Anonymous The big book does it talk about just showing up at the gym, you have to do the work. Anonymous Just say yes, sometimes it’s divine intervention. Anonymous You guys can easily have a meeting without me but I can’t have one without you. Anonymous I collected DUIs like baseball cards. Anonymous Even when I was broke I would run into a liquor store grab a bottle and run out. Eventually I ran out of liquor stores period anonymous My sponsor said that I was so close to the edge, that the Rocks were falling off. Anonymous
========================================
All my anger came out when I was drunk.
When I wasn’t drinking I was only drinking beer. Anonymous
================================
When I was in the psych ward I had no responsibilities, nada, zero, none.
Anonymous
================================
I have someone that I have to make amends to, and when I’ve suffered enough I will.
Anonymous
================================
I was a high bottom drunk with a low bottom attitude. Anonymous
================================
I still go back to my alcoholic knowledge once in awhile. Anonymous There’s Hope for me today, but not for Humanity as far as I can see.
Anonymous
================================
When I had a good time I chased it ,I chased it for years. Always looking for a party.
Anonymous
================================
I didn’t know I couldn’t stop until I tried to stop.
Anonymous
================================
I go out and wack the bushes beside my house, they grow back, life wants to prosper.
Anonymous
================================
And he told me that the body without spirit is dead. Anonymous
================================
My sponsor also told me to quit saying ‘I think’.
Anonymous
================================
Is it God for me in my sobriety? If it is I’ll go the whole way. Anonymous
================================
I figured that if I drink a pitcher of water with every pitcher beer that I would be okay. That proved to be wrong also. Anonymous
================================
Alcohol worked really good for me until I was 15 and a half years old.
Anonymous
================================
She asked me if I had heard of Alcoholics Anonymous I said no. I went to a meeting and they passed out laminating sheets and each one of us would read a step.
Anonymous
================================
All I could see was God, God, God everywhere.
Anonymous
================================
I asked him how many meetings I had to go to and he said that different people have different needs.
Anonymous
================================
I met an eighteen-year-old kid who had two years and I thought to myself ‘damn, I just heard about this thing’. Anonymous
================================
I was still smoking pot and after hearing what they were saying the hardest part I had to do was Give It Up, it’s also the best thing I’ve done.
Anonymous
================================
The young people were very strong on the steps, until then you are on a probationary stage.
Anonymous
================================
I was raised in a really screwed-up family.
Anonymous
================================
I didn’t drink until 5 p.m.unless I went to lunch with someone and I went to a lot of lunches.
Anonymous
================================
When I become a part of the unity maybe someone can get something out of what I share.
Anonymous
================================
Then someone told me to just wait until the miracle happens. Anonymous
================================
Service is not convenient, if it’s convenient it’s not service. Anonymous
================================
I’ve had a lot of calls to go to ICU and when a person shows up at a meeting they never recognize me.
Anonymous
================================
By the time I got here I could see a long great long gray narrow path going down, down, down.
Anonymous
================================
My company put out a paper weekly and one week they had an article on alcoholism. The following week there was an interview with this man and and and this man said what we talked about is what I’m talking about here, now.
Anonymous
================================
I lost everything but my sobriety.
Anonymous
================================
I had to start rebuilding my life again, first with service and then letting go and letting God.
Anonymous
================================
The miracle of how we can change your life around is in the circle and triangle.
Anonymous
================================
I graduated at the age of 50 and for the last two years I’ve been a teacher.
Anonymous
================================
I came to the fellowship and took a shower on the inside. Anonymous
================================
This program has changed the course of my life.
Anonymous
================================
I always say who my sponsor is because if I start flipping out people know who to call.
Anonymous
================================
I  started a meeting 25 years ago next to the police station and as the drunks walk out and walk that walk of shame we are there for them.
Anonymous
================================
I decided to take a drink, the drink took me, and Bam! I was right back on my ass.
Anonymous
================================
My son told them that I didn’t drink, that I broke out in felonies when I did.
Anonymous
================================
I told my fiance that if I ever took a drink for her to run like hell.
Anonymous
================================

Anonymous
