Many Groups and Clubs permit a little “friendly game” in the club-rooms. Far be it from us to criticize anyone for anything, as we like a little game occasionally ourselves. But we have all known of cases where the games got out of control. We have well-deserved reputations for intemperance.
Card games can be the breeding place for a grand emotional upset and, incidentally, it does not help a fellow’s chances of sobriety to send him home broke to the wife and kids.

Vernon Howard’s SECRETS OF LIFE
“Always remember that you are trapped only by your wrong thought
toward a situation, never by the situation itself. This does not
mean that you necessarily remain in an unwanted position; it means
you must first see your own faulty thinking toward it. Unless this
is done, you will merely leap from the battered ship into the stormy

Twenty Four Hours A Day April 22, 2016
Thought for the Day
People believe in A.A. when they see it work. An actual demonstration is what convinces them. What they read in books, what they hear people say doesn’t always convince them. But when they see a real honest-to-goodness change take place in a person, a change from a drunkard to a sober, useful citizen, that’s something they can believe because they can see it. There’s really only one thing that proves to me that A.A. works.
Have I seen the change in people who come into A.A.?
Meditation for the Day
Divine control and unquestioning obedience to God are the only conditions necessary for a spiritual life. Divine control means absolute faith and trust in God, a belief that God is the Divine Principle in the universe and that He is the intelligence and the Love that controls the universe. Unquestioning obedience to God means living each day the way you believe God wants you to live, constantly seeking the guidance of God in every situation and being willing to do the right thing at all times.
Prayer for the Day
I pray that I may always be under Divine Control and always practice unquestioning obedience to God. I pray that I may be always ready to serve Him.

Intuition, which is nothing less than God in man,
silently awaits his recognition and cooperation.

We will intuitively know how to handle situations which used to baffle us.

ACIM Workbook Lesson 113 Insights
Review: “I am one Self, united with my Creator.”
and “Salvation comes from my one Self.”
It is comforting to know that my unity with God and all creation has not been disrupted in any way. I remain one Self. Peace and serenity are automatic conditions when there is no “other” with which to conflict. Where there is perfect unity, there can be no conflict. That is my natural and true state. All I need do to experience this is let go of all the false images made up by the ego to make separation appear real.
The task is simple but it does not seem easy. The difficulty comes because there are still aspects in my mind that believe some of these images offer me something I want. In basic terms, there is a preference for specialness over the unity of God’s Love. Again and again throughout the Course Jesus shows me that all these images really offer me nothing. It is a gradual process of learning to recognize the valuelessness of every image of everything in this world.

Behold the altar of God in the stars, beneath the earth, and behind the throb of your feelings. He, the neglected reality, is hidden everywhere.
