AUGUST,2016. HEARD AT MEETINGS ( not what was said but what I heard)

My life during active drinking was at times as fun as it was perilous. Some days nobody went to jail, or ended up in the emergency room. Some days I made it home with money still in my pocket and even after some idiotic exchanges in a drunken rant my friendships remained intact. Yes it was necessary to raise the bottom for me. This month I marked 26 years and today my typical, predictable, mundane life is exactly what I had prayed for. It’s peaceful here and I don’t feel as if I have to go out and stir the pot, or pick a fight to break up the monotony. I have come to appreciate and embrace the mundane because I can rely on that old adage that nothing is more inevitable in life than change. Normal life circumstances have their own challenges and the more mundane my life is, the more effective I can be when those challenges occur. Tobias

Mundane—- serenity— I remember when I first got to 12 coconuts I had been staying out on Sand Island for a month without a meeting– for the first time in 7 years, back then in 2000, I fell asleep in the meeting. It is the only time ever in my 22 years that I have fallen asleep at a meeting. I was at peace. mundane. SANDI

The alcoholic facade is all smoke and mirrors and lacking of substance. In the void of that meaningless despair is low-self esteem followed by grandiose thinking to mask the feelings of worthlessness. Mundane and fruitless lacking vision leading to a life of misery. We have found an easier softer way and even though undeserving of a reprieve due to wreckage we rise from the narcissistic ruin to lead amazingly blessed lives full of love, compassion and depth.
