From “Back to the Fundamentals”:
The answer I was looking for was on page 12, in Ebby’s words to Bill: “Why don’t you choose your own conception of God?”
“I’ve tried everything else”, I thought, “and I’ve got no place else to go. I might just as well.” I sat down at my desk, got a pad of paper and a pencil, and asked myself, “If you could pick the kind of God that you could believe in, what would He be like?” I bore in mind the facts that I was an alcoholic and that I had been a perfectionist all my life. The world was never perfect enough for me. Everything that I ever believed in, every ideal that I ever followed turned out to have feet of clay. Here was my chance. For the first time in my life, I could create something perfect. All right! I wrote across the page, “God is the perfection I’ve been searching for all my life. He is too perfect to have human characteristics and faults.” That was the start. Then I wrote, “God is the ultimate perfection. He is the perfect love, the perfect truth, the perfect goodness, the perfect understanding, tolerance, mercy, forgiveness. God is so perfect that no matter how evil, how unclean we may be, He’ll forgive us if we ask, and grant us strength to overcome our shortcomings.”

As a clerk in a courtroom, Wayne daily observed human beings in
conflict with each other. As part of his inner work, he tried to
connect human affairs with the facts absorbed in class, which
speeded his progress. At one group gathering he commented,
“The best word to describe human relations is confusion. Is
there some opening in the wall we can work on to make things
‘You get for yourself exactly what you wish for others — what
you _really_ wish for others, not what you say you wish. It can
be no other way. It is a law of spiritual science. Work with
that opening.”
_Conflict does not enter the life of anyone who understands the
spiritual laws governing human relations.”_

The Serenity Prayer
God grant me the serenity to
Accept the things I cannot change;
Courage to change the things I can;
And the Wisdom to know the difference.
We were now at Step Three.
 Many of us said to our Maker, as we understood Him:
“God, I offer myself to Thee – to build with me and to do with me as Thou wilt. Relieve me of the
bondage of self, that I may better do Thy will. Take away my difficulties, that victory over them
may bear witness to those I would help of Thy Power, Thy Love, and Thy Way of life. May I do Thy
will always!”
We thought well before taking this step making sure we were ready; that we could at last abandon
ourselves utterly to Him.
Seventh Step Prayer
-The Seventh Step Prayer is from page 76. The Big Book
   When ready, we say something like this:
“My Creator, I am now willing that you should have all of me, good and bad. I pray that you now
remove from me every single defect of character which stands in the way of my usefulness to you
and my fellows. Grant me strength, as I go out from here, to do your bidding. Amen.”
We have then completed Step Seven.

St Francis Prayer
-From Chapter 11 of “Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions”
“Lord, make me a channel of they peace,
that where there is hatred, I may bring love;
that where there is wrong, I may bring the spirit of forgiveness;
that where there is discord, I may bring harmony
that where there is error, I may bring truth;
that where there is doubt, I may bring faith;
that where there is despair, I may bring hope;
that where there are shadows, I may bring light;
that where there is sadness, I may bring joy.
Lord, grant that I may seek rather to comfort than to be comforted;
to understand, than to be understood;
to love, than to be loved.
For it is by self-forgetting that one finds.
It is by forgiving that one is forgiven.
It is by dying that one awakens to Eternal Life.”
St. Francis Assisi (1182-1228).

“I believe that Love is at the center of everything; therefore, I accept Love as the healing power of life. I permit Love to reach out from me to every person I meet. I believe that Love is returned to me from every person I meet. I trust the guidance of Love because I believe it is the power of Good in the universe. I feel that Love is flowing through me to heal every situation I meet, to help every person I contact. Love opens the way before me and makes it perfect, straight, and glad. Love forgives everything unlike itself; it purifies everything. Love converts everything that seems commonplace into that which is wonderful. Love converts weakness into strength, fear into faith. Love”

I began to see that I wa alone no more, that I had folks around me all the time and was and have never been alone again.

Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful
committed citizens can change the world. Indeed,
it is the only thing that ever has.
“As long as I am alive, I am a servant of the Qur’an, and a grain of sand on the path of Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him. If anyone narrates anything from me but this, I am absolved of those words, and of him.”
ACIM Workbook Lesson 18 Insights
“I am not alone in experiencing the effects of my seeing.”
One question I can ask myself as I see anything is, “How am I seeing this, through the eyes of the ego, or through Christ’s vision?” I am doing one or the other all the time. Training my mind to look at how I am seeing things will help me step back from the ego’s perspective. When I step back and choose Holy Spirit, I can receive the Holy Spirit’s correction of perception. I can learn to see behind the form to the Love that is always there. Because minds are joined, how I see things affects the world.
Have you ever been offended by what someone said or did? And then went to your friends and told them your story, hoping they would join you in your upset? It may have seemed comforting to have others agree that you were harmed, yet it really didn’t make the pain any less. It simply made it seem more justified and harder to let go. Their joining you in their perception reinforced it. But if just one person did not see it the way you saw it, refused to join in your perception, there is the potential that your perception may change. You may become defensive in your attempt to hold on to your perception, or that person’s refusal to join may lead you to open your mind to other possibilities.
In every moment we are either reinforcing the perception of error or reinforcing the perception of truth. If we choose the ego as our guide, we reinforce the error and make it seem more real, both in our own mind and in the minds of all those who believe in the error.
But if we choose the Holy Spirit as our Guide and join with his perception, the error is no longer real to us and it can open many other minds to question the reality of the error. Each time we join with the Holy Spirit’s vision, it has far reaching effects. We become part of the solution instead of part of the problem. Those are really the only two options — we either reinforce the problem or, in choosing Holy Spirit as our Guide, we bring the Light to the error. This not only dissolves the error for us but opens the door to vision for many far beyond what we can know. We are truly not alone in experiencing the effects of our seeing.

The way to supreme happiness will not be found by the scientist nor by material-minded people, but by those who follow the masters who say “Go back to the booth of the infinite (awareness) from which you can see the projection of all these cosmic movies. Then you won’t be troubled about God’s creation, God’s play.” Because you are a part of it now (identify with it as being real), you suffer. You must stand aside and watch (witness) it, and then you cannot suffer. When you are an observer, then you can enjoy this play. This is what you must learn.
To God, this (life) is only a movie, and when you turn to him (consciousness), it will also be a movie to you.
Since God is perfect and this world is not a necessity for his evolution, it is therefore a sort of hobby (play) of God.
For example there are two kinds of artists: one type is the commercial artist who makes art pay; and the other type is one who creates art with no market value, simply for the personal enjoyment of it.
Now we can’t think of God as commercial, for he has nothing to gain from his art of creation. So this world is God’s hobby (play). But it is not any fun for those who are suffering in it. Because your eyes are closed (and you believe the world to be real), you cannot help thinking this world is terrible. But if you keep open your eyes of wisdom and calmness (and realize it is an appearance), you will see there is a lot of enjoyment in this world – just as though you are watching a movie.
