“Every spiritual step must be accompanied by the willingness
and the appearance of feeling foolish. There is no escape from
the prison of your old acquired self without a deliberate,
consistent willingness to appear foolish before yourself and others.
The willingness to appear foolish causes great, beautiful destruction.
The only question that is left is this: “How fast can I go?
How ingenious can I be in inventing ways to be foolish before you and myself?”
You know that the reason we want to appear wise before others
is because we want a picture of ourselves presented to them.
Now we are going to do the exact opposite of everything we used to do.

As we go through the day we pause, when agitated or doubtful, and ask for the right thought or action.
Today I humbly ask my Higher Power for the grace to find the space between my impulse and my action; to let flow a cooling breeze when I would respond with heat; to interrupt fierceness with gentle peace; to accept the moment which allows judgment to become discernment; to defer to silence when my tongue would rush to attack or defend.
I promise to watch for every opportunity to turn toward my Higher Power for guidance. I know where this power is: it resides within me, as clear as a mountain brook, hidden in the hills—it is the unsuspected Inner Resource.
I thank my Higher Power for this world of light and truth I see when I allow it to direct my vision. I trust it today and hope it trusts me to make all effort to find the right thought or action today.

We must first clarify our own vision,
then we shall become as lights, lighting the way for others.

“If you feel far away from God,
guess who moved?”

Every man’s life lies within the present;
for the past is spent and done with, and the future is uncertain.
Marcus Aurelius
When you do things from your soul
you feel a river moving in you, a joy.
When action come from another section,
the feeling disappears.
Lesson 20
I am determined to see.
We have been quite casual about our practice periods thus far. There has been virtually no attempt to direct the time for undertaking them, minimal effort has been required, and not even active cooperation and interest have been asked. This approach has been intentional, and very carefully planned. We have not lost sight of the crucial importance of the reversal of your thinking. The salvation of the world depends on it. Yet you will not see if you regard yourself as being coerced, and if you give in to resentment and opposition.
This is our first attempt to introduce structure. Do not misconstrue it as an effort to exert force or pressure. You want salvation. You want to be happy. You want peace. You do not have them now, because your mind is totally undisciplined, and you cannot distinguish between joy and sorrow, pleasure and pain, love and fear. You are now learning how to tell them apart. And great indeed will be your reward.

Let go and relax…. When you are calm,
you feel the whole universe of happiness
rocking gently beneath your consciousness.

The Thread of present Life away to win-
What? for ourselves, who know not if we shall
