When God makes a tree, it is exactly the species,
size and shape He intended it to be.
Nothing the tree can do will alter it in the slightest degree.
God, however, in His Wisdom, created man with all perfection,
yet allows him to make of himself what he will.
He gave us independent minds and
wills because He intended that we,
the highest form of all living beings,
should work out our own mental and
moral evolution from morality to immortality.
Vernon Howard’s SECRETS OF LIFE
 “Should You Help Others?
People confess, ‘I’m confused over the duty of helping other
people. I want to be good to others, but I just don’t have the
strength. Is this selfish of me?’
A false sense of duty damages human harmony. So if you have ever
asked a similar question, please follow:
For now, don’t concern yourself in the least with ideas about
helping others. Here is one of the sorriest traps ever invented.
For one thing, it is necessary to discover what is really helpful
to others.
Concentrate your strength on achieving the self-change we have
been covering. _This is your first duty_. In the long run, it is
the richest contribution you could ever make to others.”

Twenty Four Hours A Day JULY 20,2016
Thought for the Day
We must be loyal to the group and to each member of it. We must never accuse members behind their backs or even to their faces. It’s up to them to tell us themselves if anything is wrong. More than that, we must try not to think bad things about any members, because if we do, we’re consciously or unconsciously hurting that person. We must be loyal to each other if A.A. is going to be successful. While we’re in this lifeboat, trying to save ourselves and each other from alcoholism, we must be truly and sincerely helpful to each other. Am I a loyal member of my group?
Meditation for the Day
Carry out God’s guidance as best you can. Leave the results to Him. Do this obediently and faithfully with no question that if the working out of the guidance is left in God’s hands, the results will be all right? Believe that the guidance God gives you has already been worked out by God to produce the required results according to your case and in your circumstances. So follow God’s guidance according to your conscience. God has knowledge of your individual life and character, your capabilities and your weaknesses.
Prayer for the Day
I pray that I may live according to the dictates of my conscience. I pray
that I may leave the results to God.

We’re not depending on a reed shaken by the wind,
but on the principle of life itself,
for all that we have or ever shall need.
The science of Mind page 302
The A.A., or indeed any man,
who tries to run his life rigidly by this kind of prayer,
by this self-serving demand of God for replies,
is a particularly disconcerting individual.

You walk in looking like you’re about to say,
 “Enough of this!”
But it’ll take more than friends in harsh
talking to make my love leave.

who’s never been caged, or felt fear.

ACIM Workbook Lesson 200 Insights

“There is no peace except the peace of God.”
Fully accepting “There is no peace except the peace of God” simplifies life immensely. To find comfort, I do not need to try to organize outer circumstances to meet conditions I think will bring me peace. Peace cannot be found in outer conditions. I do not need to find a certain relationship to be happy and at peace. Peace cannot be found in a relationship with an image I perceive as outside of me. All the efforts to make external conditions that will make me happy and comfort me and bring me peace can never succeed. There is no peace to be found there.
As long as I believe there is an “other,” there is the potential for conflict. The peace of God is one because One is all there is. We are all part of that One. I simply need to let go of searching for peace where it cannot be found and peace will dawn upon my mind automatically, for it is already there. This means anything that seems to disturb my peace of mind is only disturbing because of the meaning I have given it. The disturbance is only in my mind.
This is good news, because if the disturbance is only in my mind, it is totally in my hands to let it go. I have the power in every moment to choose the peace of God. I need only forgive myself for imagining there was something else and let it go. What’s more, I have a powerful Friend in my mind, the Holy Spirit, Who shares His strength and vision with me to help me forgive and let go. I am never alone, ever. And I am glad and thankful this is so.
In this lesson Jesus makes it clear what to ask for. In paragraph 3 he tells us, “Yet you can ask as easily for love, for happiness, and for eternal life in peace that has no ending. Ask for this, and you can only win. To ask for what you have already must succeed. To ask that what is false be true can only fail. Forgive yourself for vain imaginings.”
As I learn to ask for the peace of God instead of trying to make this world real, I am asking for union rather than separation. As I learn to ask for the peace of God, I do not try to change the world. I simply realize it is not really there. I realize what I am seeing comes from my desire to see separation.
As I change what I desire to see with the help of the Holy Spirit, I will see unity where I once saw separation. I will see there is really only one mind where I once saw separate bodies. I will be led to experience the peace of God.

Come, fill the Cup, and in the fire of Spring
Your Winter-garment of Repentance fling:
The Bird of Time has but a little way
To flutter—and the Bird is on the Wing.
