 Eye Opener (1950)
For a person to attempt to live apart from this
world is as useless as for a drop of water to
live apart from the ocean. God put everything in this world,
 and He takes nothing out.
To endeavor to withdraw from the world’s activities
is another way of fooling yourself.
We are an influence for good or evil regardless of
our attempts to hide from society at large.
When a rock falls from a cliff into the sea,
it is not merely that the land is one rock less,
it means the contour of the whole continent has changed.
However, it is still a part of God’s Universe
whether it can be seen by man or not.

“Throughout our life we encounter many critical points in our day.
Those critical points determine what happens to us after the point
is accomplished. For example, you decide to go to a certain school,
or you decide not to go to it. you decide to make an expensive pur-
chase of something, car, house, anything, or you decide that you’re
not going to make that purchase. And you can think with me of how
often you meet large critical points that might affect your health,
your mental well-being, your social life, but the point is to realize
for the purposes of developing the point that we’re going to go into,
that you’re always running into critical points, and it is vital that
you make a wise decision on them. And we’ve had experience, haven’t we
in making unwise decisions? Now, with that in mind, let me lead up to
the main point for the first part of the talk.
Like invisible rain, healthy influences are raining down on humanity,
they can’t be seen, but they’re coming down. They don’t originate on
this level, they originate way up there and come down and are
scattered around on earth. And human beings, they make a choice,
eventually, but these healthy influences come down and they are not
recognized as health. How can an unhealthy mind recognize health,
it can’t. Nevertheless, the influences come down all the time into
the heads of humanity and they are recognized, not as health – but
as something different.
A mentally and spiritually unhealthy human being knows only the
badness of his state, so when the health comes down to him he can’t
take it as something that is good for his badness, but he can and
does, every single time know that this is not a part of his present self-structure
. Then he goes on after that to either accept or
reject that exploration of that difference.
But now this is the critical point, this is the spiritual, critical
point and it is also, as you will see, oh, a Heaven-sent, literally,
opportunity for you to do what is right with something that is right
that you haven’t done up till now.”

Twenty Four Hours A Day JUNE 15, 2016
Thought for the Day
In A.A. we have three things: fellowship, faith, and service.
Fellowship is wonderful, but its wonder lasts just so long.
Then some gossip, disillusionment, and boredom may come in.
Worry and fear come back at times and we find that fellowship
is not the whole story. Then we need faith. When we’re alone,
with no- body to pat us on the back, we must turn to God for
help. Can I say “Thy will be done” – and mean it?
Meditation for the Day
There is beauty in a God-guided life. There is wonder in the
feeling of being led by God. Try to realize God’s bounty and
goodness more and more. God is planning for you. Wonderful are His ways – they are beyond your knowledge. But God’s leading will enter your consciousness more and more and bring you ever more peace and joy. Your life is being planned and blessed by God. You may count all material things as losses if they prevent your winning your way to the consciousness of od’s guidance.
Prayer for the Day
I pray that I may earn the rewards of God’s power and peace.
I pray that I may develop the feeling of being led by God.
Every person is an incarnation of Eternity;
a manifestation of the finite;of that infinite which,
Emerson tells us,
” lies in smiling Repose.”

Scientific progress told us there was nothing man couldn’t do. Knowledge was all powerful. Intellect could conquer nature. Since we were brighter than most folks (so we thought), the spoils of victory would be ours for the thinking. The god of intellect displaced the God of our fathers. But John Barleycorn had other ideas.
We who had won so handsomely in a walk turned into all time losers. We saw that we had to reconsider or die.
— Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions, pages 29-30
It is the most ungodly and dangerous business to abandon the certain and revealed will of God in order to search into the hidden mysteries of God.
 — Martin Luther
God of all beings, of all worlds, and of all times, We pray, that The little differences in our clothes, in our inadequate languages, in our ridiculous customs, in our imperfect laws, in our illogical opinions, in our ranks and conditions which are so disproportionately important to us and so meaningless to you, that these small variations that distinguish those atoms that we call men, one from another, may not be signals of hatred and persecution!
— Voltaire

Don’t turn away.
Keep your gaze on the bandaged place.
That’s where the light enters you.

ACIM Workbook Lesson 165 Insights
“Let not my mind deny the Thought of God.”
This lesson gets to the core of what A Course in Miracles is all about. Jesus brought the Course to us because we have denied What we are and Where we are. We are denying that we are in Heaven now. We are denying that we are a Thought in the Mind of God. As the first sentence says, “What makes this world seem real except your own denial of the truth that lies beyond?” This lesson and the whole Course is there for us to help us change our mind about this denial and about what we desire.
When we desire the truth, we will receive it. When we desire to see illusions, we will see that. All through the Course, Jesus tells us again and again that the desire to see a world of separate bodies only brings us illusions of limitation, pain and death. He helps us see that this is not what we really want. He helps us remember that the truth lies beyond the illusions of separation.
As we stick with the Course day by day, our minds are slowly changed. We are led to let go of what we thought was real. We are led to see all the forms of separation for what they really are, which is a defense against God. We are led to open our minds to the truth that we are in Heaven now and never left. We are led to understand that it is only our wanting separation that continues to make the forms of separation we see appear real. Jesus tells us, “Ask with desire.” (5:1) We always get what we want in our heart of hearts.
Holy Spirit, I open my mind to You. I want Your healing Light, Your healing peace, Your healing understanding. I want to let go of denying the truth. I open my mind to Your thoughts. I let Your thoughts comfort me and heal my mind of all false images. I will let my mind be healed today and accept the truth. The truth is I am still in God and of God. All is one in God.
As I continue to work daily with the Course, my values are changing. As I realize that something I value is bringing me pain or sadness or fear, I let it go. More and more I realize that all I really want is to remember God’s Love for me. No substitute will ever satisfy me. I am doing less looking for love in all the wrong places. Life is much simpler now. There is less efforting. Less energy is put into trying to make the circumstances of the moment fit my image of what they should be to make me happy.
Glimpses of the happiness available to me in God show me that all the forms of this world cannot come close to offering me the happiness I really want. Nothing in this world can offer me that happiness. Likewise, nothing in this world can keep me from it. It is only my mistaken idea that something in this world offers me something I want that interferes with my awareness of the peace and joy already given me by God.
I am deeply grateful to know that the Holy Spirit is always in my mind, ready to lead me Home to the Heaven of God’s Love. My only job now is to practice listening to His guidance. In any moment that I feel apprehensive or uncertain, I will use this as a reminder to turn to Him for His guidance and His vision. He will show me with certainty what is truly valuable and show me the valuelessness of the empty images I have mistaken for reality. This is my path to peace and certainty. It is my path to eternal Life. It is my path to freedom.
The above comments reflect my process as well and help me to articulate it. Sometimes I become discouraged by my apparent lack of progress and forget to see how far I have come. I now see I am experiencing denial of the truth and allowing it to hide God’s perfect Will for me.
I really appreciated the passage from today’s lesson that reassures us that sureness is not required, only desire. I tend to forget that and start thinking that because I doubt, I cannot have it. My desire is strong and with each lesson I do and with each small success, it becomes stronger.
Everything in creation has individuality.
The Lord never repeats Himself.
Similarly, in man’s divine search there
are infinite variations of approach and expression.
The romance of each devotee with God is unique.
Paramahansa Yogananda

“Dawn filled the sky with roses. In the
crystal-clear air the last song of the nightingale
dies. The smell of the wine weakens. This is the moment
when fools dream of fame! How soft
is your hair, my beloved!”
