We in AA have many religious affiliations,
and there are some of us who contend that
AA is all the religion they need.
Yet this fact remains: the spiritual facts on
which AA is based would not have survived
The ages but for the tenacity of formal religions.
    Without religions, our moral,
political and social structure would collapse.
There is a lot in all denominations that can be criticized but,
without them, life would be chaos.
“We’re going to talk for the first time at New Life, pretty much
exclusively, about the crime of blasphemy. And I don’t want any of
you to fall into automatic trembling or fear or worry over it
because just to say the word and understand even a little bit, of
what it means, connects with a bad habit you have of personalization.
And you will ask yourself, ‘Have I committed blasphemy, have
I gone so far that there’s no forgiveness for me?’ And you will
already have made a mistake as a listener. You will have commit-
ted something that is not blasphemous, but is a very wretched thing
for you to do, which is to fall into your usual habit of wanting to
feel negative, harmful emotions.
And unknown to you that habit is enormously fixed and deep, so that
when almost any subject is brought up or you encounter anything, you
fall into your fervent love and fondness for feeling afraid, for
giving yourself a shake.
Now I’ve gone into a little bit of detail with this in connection
with the subject of blasphemy because I know how powerful words can
be, wrongly powerful, when you are careless in your mind, which you
are all the time. And you may have had feelings of worry over the
word blasphemy and not even know it because you don’t understand
how you so easily fall into the habit of wondering whether you have
done something so bad that it can never be forgiven. And that is a
mistake, because you want to make yourself the center of your own
sins. You like the trembling of wondering, ‘Am I condemned?'”

Twenty Four Hours A Day JUNE 2, 2016
Thought for the Day
Some more things I do not miss since becoming dry: wondering if the car is in the garage and how I got home; struggling to remember where I was and what I did since my last conscious moment; trying to delay getting off to work, and wondering how I will look when I get there; dreading the day ahead of me. I’m quite sure that I don’t miss these things, am I not?
Meditation for the Day
You cannot believe in God and keep your selfish ways. The old self shrivels up and dies, and upon the reborn soul God’s image becomes stamped. The gradual elimination of selfishness in the growth of love for God and your fellow human beings is the goal of life. At first, you have only a faint likeness to the Divine, but the picture grows and takes on more and more of the likeness of God until those who see you can see in you some of the power of God’s grace at work in a human life.
Prayer for the Day
I pray that I may develop that faint likeness I have to the Divine. I pray
that others may see in me some of the power of God’s grace at work.
Love is within us. It cannot be destroyed. It can be ignored….
Then love is our only problem and embracing it is the only answer….
Love heals, forgives and makes whole.

ACIM Workbook Lesson 143 Insights
Review: “My mind holds only what I think with God.” and
“In quiet I receive God’s Word today. All that I give is given to myself.”
God’s Word is Love. Its attributes are peace and joy. It makes sense that to receive God’s Word, I must be at peace. The maze of conflicting thoughts of the ego cannot conceive of the simple unity of Love. Learning to quiet my mind is an essential step in preparing myself to receive God’s Word. If I want the peace of God, I must welcome the peace of God.
If I am attracted to the drama and conflict of the ego, I will not welcome God’s peace. As I learn to recognize that nothing in this world offers me anything I really want, my willingness to quiet my mind increases. Quieting my mind is a gift I give myself, for it is the gift of healing, of returning to my Self as I was created in Love.
Today I ask the Holy Spirit to help me see the meaninglessness and valuelessness of the ego’s drama’s. I seek to clear the way to a quiet mind and receive God’s Word of Love unchanged and unchangeable. With the Holy Spirit’s help I will see the Love in all my brothers. I will not be deceived by behaviors or circumstances in form. I will offer only the vision of Love to my brothers so that I might receive Love’s gifts.
In another lesson, Jesus says “God is but Love and therefore so am I.” Because I am Love, my mind in reality can hold only Love. In the Text it says that Love means sharing all Love with all. This means that as I return to the awareness of the Love that I am, I also return to the awareness that as Love, I am eternally giving all Love to all. And because Love is one, I am receiving all Love from all.
Because I have tried to make something different from God’s Love real, I experience something different from God’s Love. As I am willing to quiet my mind, I am learning to sink below the chatter of the differences I made up. Below the chatter there is peace, there is the quiet mind. There is God’s Word. There is Love. There is simplicity. There is one Self, where giving and receiving are the same. In this sacred place of quiet, nothing has changed from Love. Here is the eternal now, the holy instant, the changeless unity of Love. My mind holds only what I think with the Love that I am.
Holy Spirit, lead me today, that I may be aware of the Love that is always present in all circumstances. Holy Spirit, help me remember that I can only receive Love and give Love in truth, because my mind holds only what I think with Love. Help me remember this today. Help me extend only Love. It is in this way that I will remember that I am only Love. Help me remember to rest in Love today. Help me to remember that only Love is real.
O master Weaver of dreams, teach me to loom a cushioning carpet of self-realization on which all Thy lovers may tred as they travel to the shrine of eternal wakefulness.
