From the BlogMeet Ron

“The idea keeps persisting that the instincts are primarily bad and are the roadblocks before which all spirituality falters. I believe that the difference between good and evil is not the difference between spiritual and instinctual man; it is the difference between proper and improper use of the instinctual.  Recognition and right channeling of the instinctual are the essence of achieving wholeness.”

Gently Releasing All Conscious Expectations

“Q: I like the idea of royal guidance.

A: A cosmic fact is like a king’s messenger who arrives at the

right time and place with perfect instructions.”

First, we try living in the now just in order to stay sober—
and it works Once the idea has become a part of our
thinking we find that living life in 24-hour segments is an
effective and satisfying way to handle many other matters
as well
“One Day At A Time.” To a newcomer this and other oneliners
of A.A. may seem ridiculous. The passwords of the
A.A. Fellowship can become lifelines in moments of
stress. Each day can be like a rose unfurling according to
the plan of a Power greater than myself. My program
should be planted in the right location, just as it will need
to be groomed, nourished, and protected from disease. My
planting will require patience, and my realizing that some
flowers will be more perfect than others. Each stage of the
petals’ unfolding can bring wonder and delight if I do not
interfere or let my expectations override my acceptance—
and this brings serenity.
Jesus said, “Give and it shall be given unto you.” This is the law of life. We should give of ourselves in love and in service to others, in a spirit of generosity and good fellowship. To refuse to give is to refuse to receive, for everything moves in circles. And real giving is the givingness of the self. A kind word, a thoughtful act, perhaps just a smile, can help lighten the burdens of life and fulfill the Law of Good.
We are all parts of each other, because the same God is in each of us, wearing a different face. God is the creator of all, in all, and through all, and we are the family of all. No individual can live unto his or herself alone. We can only live unto God and unto each other. On this pathway alone is there freedom, joy and completion. As sure as the eternal circuits of God follow this course, so shall those who give all, receive all.

I found that I can’t do this thing alone,
I need you. I would never have been able to admit that.
May you take time to celebrate the quiet miracles that seek no attention.
When you go through a hard period, When everything seems to oppose you, … When you feel you cannot even bear one more minute, NEVER GIVE UP! Because it is the time and place that the course will divert!

ACIM Workbook Lesson 158 Insights
“Today I learn to give as I receive.”
When I look at everything that seems to cause me to lose my peace in any way, they all have one thing in common: They are all based on the perception of form. I think something did something or didn’t do something I think it should have, be it a body, a machine, the weather or myriad other things. If I did not see the form or perceive it in any way, there would be nothing that could be the basis for the perception of harm, no cause for loss of peace.
The Course tells me I have taught myself to see form. Form can only be seen in dreams, because form is not real. Today’s lesson is teaching me how to undo the false lesson I have taught myself. By teaching me about Christ’s vision, it is teaching me to learn to look past the form to the Light. Form does not matter. What is unreal cannot matter. The Light that is the extension of God is all that is real. It is this I am told to practice seeing.
As I learn to recognize no form can have any real effect, forgiveness is automatic. If somebody did something that I don’t know about, I don’t have to forgive them, because in my thinking, there is nothing to forgive. That is what it will be like when I truly learn that nothing in form is real and therefore it has no effect. If there was no effect, there is nothing to forgive. This is what Christ’s vision shows me. There is nothing to forgive. There is only innocence to be seen. As I learn to see the innocence in my brother, I recognize it in myself.
Holy Spirit, I put myself in Your Hands today. With Your strength I can see past the form to the Light. With Your help I will not mistake bodies for the Son of God. With Your help, I will see the Light beyond all form. And I will be truly blessed, for I will know I am forgiven. I am innocent along with all my brothers. I give thanks.
Today is a day of practice. My practice is to be open to receive Christ’s vision and give Christ’s vision. Christ’s vision has one law and that is to see past bodies to the Light that is eternally there. Today I practice opening to the Light, recognizing the Light that my brother truly is. Today I practice focusing on the truth in my brother and letting illusions go.
Receiving Christ’s vision comes with the decision to accept Christ’s vision, which is always there waiting for my acceptance. Either I accept the truth or I accept illusions. This is my choice today. Today I practice accepting the truth, accepting Christ’s vision, accepting the one Light that is behind all bodies, all form of every kind.
Today I practice remembering that all is still Mind and only Mind, safe in the Mind of God. Nothing has changed from God’s creation of eternal Love. Eternal Love is universal. Today is a day of practice. I am determined to practice seeing with Christ’s vision today. Today I would give as I receive.

Hidden deep meditation, when one shuts out the land of finitude and matter, the realm of Eternity, the vast heavenly kingdom of God’s omniscience, is found to lier upon tier in endless vistas before the inner vision.

And the last major similarities between these two disciplines is complaints of always being alone. They are alone for various reasons: they are misunderstood by others, their lover is never around, or nobody desires them. And this issue of aloneness is rampant in both the Persian classical poetry and blues lyrics.
So these similarities over the years made me aware about a connection between Rumi and the blues, in fact I used to perform a song called Rumi Blues with blues music and rhythms, honoring the connection without actually fully understanding the reason.
