Effort has been made to carry AA into schools and young people’s organizations, but the effective response has been so negligible that it has usually been abandoned after a short trial.
AA is a program for ALCOHOLICS – persons suffering from alcoholism. It was designed to appeal to them and them only. It is probably true that we can tell the kids a lot about drinking, but it will fall on deaf ears. Unfortunately, we must be pricked by the sharp thorn of experience in order to learn.

Vernon Howard’s SECRETS OF LIFE
“There was once a School of True Wisdom. An angel stood on guard
before it, blocking entrance at the front gate. One morning a
seeker approached the gate and asked admittance. The angel told
him, ‘If I step aside and you enter here, you will see that you
have been a shameless faker all your life.’ The seeker answered,
‘I wish to enter. Please step aside.’ The angel then said to the
seeker, ‘If I step aside and you enter here, you must abandon all
your usual and beloved hopes and ambitions.’ The seeker said,
‘I wish to come in. Please step aside.’ The angel continued, ‘If
I step aside and you enter here, you will come face to face with
every evil and secret thought you have ever thought.’ The seeker
replied, ‘I wish to go inside. Please step aside.’ The angel
smiled and stepped aside.”

Twenty Four Hours A Day MAY 6,2016
Thought for the Day
I’ve noticed that the ones who do the most for A.A. are not in the habit of boasting about it. The danger of building myself up too much is that, if I do, I’m in danger of having a fall. That pattern of thought goes with drinking. If one side of a boat gets too far up out of the water, it’s liable to tip over. Building myself up and drinking go together. One leads to the other. So if I’m going to stay sober, I’ve got to keep small. Have I got the right perspective on myself?
Meditation for the Day
The way sometimes seems long and weary. So many people today are weary. The weariness of others must often be shared by me. The weary and the heavy laden, when they come to me, should be helped to find the rest that I have found. There is only one sure cure for world-weariness and that is turning to spiritual things. In order to help bring about the turning of the weary world to God, I must dare to suffer, dare to conquer selfishness in myself, and dare to be filled with spiritual peace in the face of all the weariness of the world.
Prayer for the Day
I pray that I may be a help to discouraged people. I pray that I may have the courage to help bring about what the weary world needs but does not know how to get.

ACIM Workbook Lesson 126 Insights
“All that I give is given to myself.”
When I asked for help in understanding at a deeper level that all I give is given to myself, I was reminded of times when I extended Love to someone. Every time I do this, I experience Love in myself. I feel uplifted, joyous and grateful. I feel peaceful and safe. As I recalled various experiences, I saw the consistency of being blessed every time. I thought I was offering Love in some way to someone else. Very clearly I was also receiving It.
I also recalled times when I offered forgiveness for something I thought was wrong. When I truly got that no harm had really happened, that there truly was nothing to forgive, I felt free. I felt lighter, as if a dark cloud had been lifted. I relaxed. There was less tension in my body. I felt less limited. I could meet the person with a sense of joy in my heart instead of trying to avoid meeting them or trying to say as little as possible. In offering true forgiveness, I not only released the other from my judgment, but I freed myself.
In the grand panorama of creation, the Invisible Infinite becomes visible in the finite; and those with eyes to see Can discern in every finite thing the marks of the Infinite.
