The churches in their quarrels over purely sectarian
issues have done much to divert attention from
the primary purpose of religion, which is spirituality.
Some pastors take a more critical attitude toward
the neglect of church duties than they do toward moral transgressions.
AA should be kept free of all controversial questions.
We have but one purpose, and that is to help the suffering alcoholic.
Ours is a way of life; not a way of worship.

Vernon Howard’s SECRETS OF LIFE
“The life of this or that person is a nightmare come true.
No matter how hard that man or woman tries to convince himself
that he knows what he’s talking about, it is futile, it is painful,
and it’s a never-ending road.
Now for the good news. Listen to this good news, but you must want
this good news. You may think you already do but let’s explore it
a little bit.”

Twenty Four Hours A Day MAY 8,2016
Thought for the Day
I’m grateful that I found a program in A.A. that could keep me sober. I’m grateful that A.A. has shown me the way to faith in a Higher Power, because the renewing of that faith has changed my way of life. And I’ve found a happiness and contentment that I had forgotten existed, by simply believing in God and trying to live the kind of a life that I know He wants me to live. As long as I stay grateful, I’ll stay sober. Am I in a grateful frame of mind?
Meditation for the Day
God can work through you better when you are not hurrying. Go very slowly, very quietly, from one duty to the next, taking time to rest and pray between. Do not be too busy. Take everything in order. Venture often into the rest of God and you will find peace. At work that results from resting with God is good work. Claim the power to work miracles in human lives. Know that you can do many things through the Higher Power. Know that you can do good things through God who rests you and gives you strength. Partake regularly of rest and prayer.
Prayer for the Day
I pray that I may not be in too much of a hurry. I pray that I may take time out often to rest with God.

As our thought is opened and we behold
the image of Eternity within ourselves,
we are changed by this image into the newness of Life.
This is accomplished by the Spirit of God.

He stood in the Presence of Infinite Power and Love. He had stepped from bridge to shore. For the first time, he lived in conscious companionship with his Creator.

I have simply tried to do what seemed best each day, as each day came.
— Abraham Lincoln
I will rest from my thoughts. I will give my attention wholly to the present.
Therein will come the solution, and when least expected.

What comes, will go.
What is found, will be lost again.
But what you are is beyond
coming and going and
beyond description.
You are It.
ACIM Workbook Lesson 128 Insights
“The world I see holds nothing that I want.”
What stood out to me in this lesson was “…release your mind from chains and let it seek the level where it finds itself at home.” (6:1) When I practiced this I found an inner place of peace, of comfort. I found clarity in my life from this inner place. This inner place of peace and Light comes from my true Self. It is this Self that needs to be in full charge of every part of my life, of every thought. It is this Self that needs to guide everything I do.
For this to happen, I need to practice following, not deciding anything on my own. I need to remember again and again that I do not know what anything means. This Presence of peace and Love is always there, waiting for my mind to open and accept Its guidance. As I practice opening again and again, I see that it is always there, with simplicity and ease.
The beginning and the end of all created things are hidden in the depths of the infinite; only the middle is visible.
 Paramahansa Yogananda

What comes, will go.
What is found, will be lost again.
But what you are is beyond
coming and going and
beyond description.
You are It.
