From the BlogMeet Ron

November 2017 HEARD AT MEETINGS

I was no longer drinking to be socially,
I had to have a drink and I was one of
those women who were gone beyond recall.
Anonymous
=======================
I realize that the only thing that would get me to
stop drinking was a near-death experience.
Anonymous
=======================
My first step is very simply I can’t stop drinking.
Anonymous
=======================
I was 25 lb lighter than I am now and I’m 115 lb.
Anonymous
=======================
I would fight and abuse my husband.
I was just perfect in my disease.
Anonymous
=======================
My son said he hated me now that I had
 stopped drinking, it was a complete shutdown.
Anonymous
=======================
For for a long time people looked at me strangely
and then someone said there’s something different
about you what is it, and I said,
I’ve got a new manager, meaning sponsor.
Anonymous
=======================
 I was in a lockdown treatment center for 4 months.
Anonymous
=======================
Give me what I want and I’ll always want more.
Anonymous
=======================
They said you can change your life,
and then they fed me the big book
with a steam shovel.
Anonymous
=======================
I went into another treatment center and
they ould show me how to pay my bills,
make my bed, and the how to live a selfless life.
As a result I’m not always stepping on people’s toes.
Anonymous
=======================
When my dad died I did booze with boys and girls.
Anonymous
=======================
Marriages, divorces, places and things would fix me,
It was always about you, I was always right.
Anonymous.
=======================
I got the disease of alcoholism when I came
into the rooms of Alcoholics Anonymous.
Anonymous
=======================
My sponsor said didn’t sugar-coat it,
if you want to sugar, alcohol has a lot of sugar.
Anonymous
=======================
If you don’t have a sponsor then you’re
on the wrong track and that track and
get derailed at any moment.
Anonymous
=======================
She said there’s always someone
here with longer hair and bigger tits.
Anonymous
=======================
I had that tall dark and handsome thing going for me.
 I got sober, and I was just dark.
Anonymous
=======================
I needed every drop of alcohol I had,
it was horrible,but it brought me here.
Anonymous
=======================
My teacher caught me drinking on the
lawn and she told me that I was very
complementary and polite but that
wouldn’t get me through school.
Anonymous
=======================
I joined the army and was stationed in Alaska,
you know that being very black is not good for
camouflage in the white snow.
Anonymous
=======================
You can dress up the pig, but it’s still a pig.
There is no one else at the party but me.
Anonymous
=======================
I had a god complex. I decided to shoot
myself and picked out a red outfit
so there wouldn’t the blood the stain and
I was wondering if I looked good enough
would they put it in better House and Gardens.
Anonymous
=======================
I had to make the coffee, set up the room,
and wash all the ashtrays, and I thought it
was just because because there’s a chance
to get a black guy to do the work.
Anonymous
=======================
The coolest thing I could do is find myself
a sponsor in Alcoholics Anonymous.
Anonymous
=======================
My first fourth step was all fiction but
when I felt like taking a drink then
I got serious and did a good one.
Anonymous
=======================
My sponsor told me to go around before or after
the meeting and talk to people about their Higher Power.
Anonymous
=======================
I get my wisdom from that power to carry things out in my life.
Anonymous
=======================
I don’t believe in your God but I do believe in my Higher Power.
Anonymous
=======================
My sponsor said I was so spiritual that I
was no damn good to anyone.
Anonymous
=======================
There was never a day from the time I was
14 until I was 33 and I didn’t take a drink or
 smoke something.
Anonymous
=======================
I was always chasing alcohol and drugs
or the money to get it.
Anonymous
=======================
She said, don’t worry it can’t fail,
even if you take a drink, alcohol will
drag your ass back into the meeting.
Anonymous
=======================
My sobriety started five years ago
during a family intervention.
Anonymous
=======================
When you have that strong Community around you,
you know you will be okay.
Anonymous
=======================
Being a big shot in a mental institution is
like being a champion pool player there.
Anonymous
=======================
I’m here with my people, like my cell phone,
I’m getting recharged.
Anonymous
=======================
My dad set me down and said it’s okay to maybe
having some drinks every couple of months
but not get drunk everyday.
I only heard the word everyday.
Anonymous
=======================
I would go to the shrink and cry and cry and cry for the whole time.
Anonymous
=======================
I had told them in the treatment that I had to stop taking cocaine
to be able to drink and smoke pot.
Anonymous
=======================
I always had this plan of drinking
white liquor before 5 p.m. and dark liquor after 5 p.m.
Anonymous
=======================
She said I always get a kick out of it the Big Book
saying that we will be rocketed into the fourth dimension,
it just means we are growing up guys.
Anonymous
=======================
When I take things personally I’m in my disease.
Anonymous
=======================
I know that’s not relevant to an AA meeting
but it’s totally relevant to an AA meeting.
Anonymous
=======================
I was a Rebel Without a Cause.
Anonymous
=======================
I have a chance and it’s choice in every thought I take.
Anonymous
=======================
I was wasting away in bars with my fraternity Brothers.
Anonymous
=======================
I married a girl who never said anything about my drinking,
she was a typical housewife, always packing things.
One day she just packed up and left I never saw her again.
Anonymous
=======================
If anything I said helps you, thank you,
you’re in the right place.
Anonymous
=======================
Just try and draw closer to this God that
you don’t believe in or think is not there.
Then try and believe in it.
Anonymous
=======================
I believe that every experience I have is
bringing me closer to the light.
Anonymous
=======================
They say you pull your head out of your ass
and that smell goes away in about 10 years.
Anonymous
=======================
Let’s face it, you can’t fix the broken tool with a broken tool.
Anonymous
=======================
I got a call from Central Office in my Alaska
and picked up this large white man.
He was banging on the dash of my new car
screaming and I’ve got to go to an AA meeting
and God sent me a black man to take me
what’s happening to my life.
Anonymous
====================
I’m not the best at doing the program but
I’m amazed at the promises still come true.
Anonymous
====================
Trudging does not suck, it means
putting one step in front of the other.
Anonymous
====================
I got the divine intervention, not a DUI but the DEA.
Anonymous
====================
I don’t need tolerance because I have acceptance.
Anonymous
====================
At 11 or 12 my parents gave me a little
alcohol so that I could fall asleep, after awhile,
I got into the alcohol on a regular basis.
Anonymous
====================
My professor at College gave us all marijuana to smoke.
Anonymous
====================
I found myself puking over the toilet thinking,
this is the way to go.
Anonymous
====================
He said there’s an easier way to deal with
alcoholism than heroin, he took me to meetings,
I heard that it is possible to live without alcohol.
Anonymous
====================
I couldn’t stand to get wrenching loneliness.
Anonymous
====================
He said stay where you are,
I’ve been waiting for this call for years.
Anonymous
====================
Today I have had a stay of execution.
Anonymous
====================
I had my neighbor call my wife and say I wasn’t coming home,
I’m finished, to hell with her.
Anonymous
=========================
I had to have a beer with lunch, right,
as I left the pub I got a six-pack.
Anonymous
=========================
The guy that I had was beating me, and the
guy that I have today is very loving.
Anonymous
=========================
I love coming here, Monday, I can’t Tuesday,
he can and Wednesday, I’ll let him, one two three.
Anonymous
=========================
The longer I’ve been sober the better jobs I get.
Anonymous
=========================
Both of my dogs died within two weeks of each other.
I got to be there looking in both in their eyes as they passed.
It was very beautiful.
Anonymous
=========================
The step could have said I believe that God can fix me.
It doesn’t say that. It says he could restore me to my sanity.
Anonymous
=========================
How could I be an alcoholic, I’m successful, s
o it took me a few years for it to beat me down.
Anonymous
=========================
It is not the motto of this program to
figure it out but to follow a few simple suggestions.
Anonymous
=========================
I have a life today so that I wouldn’t
have to slip through the cracks.
Anonymous
=========================
Because of God, and sponsorship,
 and the fellowship, I have 24 years this month.
Anonymous
=========================
I spent four years trying to prove that
I wasn’t as bad as you were.
Anonymous
=========================
They told me that I wasn’t a bad person but
 that I was a sick person who needed to get well.
Anonymous
=========================
I kept coming back and overtime I began
to find the power of the 12 Steps.
Anonymous
=========================
I found that you get to learn how to love
somebody else rather than yourself.
Anonymous
=========================
I like to hear people talk about their bottom,
 to remember is the most important thing.
Anonymous
=========================
I listen to this guy complain for 45 minutes
and I said to my sponsor what is he going to shut up?
He said just take your time and eat while he talks.
Anonymous
=========================
When I met my wife it was like two garbage trucks
 running any into each other head-on.
Anonymous
=========================
She had two children and I had one
and two parents make one good parent.
Anonymous
=========================
I felt I could never be restored to sanity
because I had never been sane.
Anonymous
=========================
I went to my first meeting and no one took
my hand and I told my sponsor that no one
is shaking my hand and he said ‘did you shake anyone’s hand?’
I said ‘no.’
Anonymous
=========================
It’s always my mine r God’s will.
Many times it was more of mine than Gods.
Anonymous
=========================
We had a meeting way back in the
hollows of the Tennessee mountains.
Anonymous
=========================
I’m waiting for the loafers, flippers and flip-flops.

drank but my head feels like Bin Laden is going off in there.
Anonymous
=========================
This is my last semester at UH and I’ve
got to set things up so I can go back to
the Los Angeles and do online classes for my graduation.
Anonymous
=========================
My life is not going to give me any challenges
I can because I can come to these meetings
and everything is okay. But if I’m not treating
 my alcoholism on a daily basis, I’m sick.
Anonymous
=========================
Gratitude is something I do on a daily basis.
Anonymous
=========================

I came here to witness,
not to put a judgement on you but to share.

Anonymous
======================
Most people when they get a flat tire call AAA,

When my daughter was born I realized

he said ‘go help someone’ and I said///////
‘you don’t understand’ and he smiled and said
‘honey I heard you the first time, go help someone’.

on our knees in front of my car and did the third step prayer.
Anonymous
========================
Afterwards she said, you can no longer
