DAILIES

Eye Opener (1950)
When God makes a tree, it is exactly the species,

size and shape He intended it to be.
Nothing the tree can do will alter it in the slightest degree.

God, however, in His Wisdom, created man with all perfection,
yet allows him to make of himself what he will.
He gave us independent minds and wills because He intended that we,
the highest form of all living beings,
should work out our own mental and
moral evolution from morality to immortality.

Vernon Howard’s SECRETS OF LIFE

“The earth revolves around the sun. Your earthly life consists of
dozens of actions which revolve. In your employment it revolves
around going to the office or shop several times a week, doing
your work. Food-wise it revolves around shopping, having dinners.
We have dozens of petty involvements in our life. Most of them
are good and necessary on the natural level; some are not good
and necessary.

But there is one revolving action that all human beings have,
which is their sadness and which is an expenditure of energy
that need not happen. I want you to think anew about this
involvement so that you can stop it. So that you are not
drawn into it by circumstances and by casual remarks and
by your own ignorance and carelessness.

Everyone’s false life revolves around him or her trying to
believe in oneself. Now go slow on that thought. Your life
revolves around that one useless activity, needless and
life-draining action of you trying to believe that you are
real when you are false.”

TWENTY FOUR HOURS A DAY March 17
Thought For The Day

A. A. also helps us to hang onto sobriety. By having regular meetings so that we can associate with other alcoholics who have come through that same door in the wall, by encouraging us to tell the story of our own sad experiences with alcohol, and by showing us how to help other alcoholics. A.A. keeps us sober. Our attitude toward life changes from one of pride and selfishness to one of humility and gratitude. Am I going to step back through that door in the wall to my old helpless, hopeless, drunken life?Meditation For The Day
Withdraw into the calm of communion with God. Rest in that calm and peace. When the soul finds its home of rest in God, then it is then that real life begins. Only when you are calm and serene can you do good work. Emotional upsets make you useless. The eternal life is calmness, and when a man enters into that, then he lives as an eternal being.  Calmness is based on complete trust in God. Nothing in this world can separate you from the love of God.Prayer For The DayI pray that I may wear the world like a loose garment.  I pray that I may keep serene at the center of my being.

Ignorance of the law excuses no one from its affects.

With few exceptions our members find they have tapped an unsuspected inner
resource which they presently identify with their own conception of a Power
greater than themselves.

The murder that rose again and again in his untaught heart he forced back by
thoughts of the sweet, pure face of the girl whose image he had set up in the
inner temple of his being, as a gentle, guiding divinity.

The freedom and independence of human personality from the world of objects
is its divine-humanity. This means that personality is not formulated by the world
of objects but by subjectivity, in which is hidden the power of the image of God.

When you come back inside my chest,

no matter how far I’ve wandered off,

I look around and see the way.
At the end of my life,
 with just one breath left,
if you come then
, I’ll sit up and sing.

ACIM Workbook Lesson 76 Insights
“I am under no laws but God’s.”
It is helpful to remember that the Course says that what we believe will make us happy is what we believe is our salvation. It was interesting for me to look at not only the ways I think I can make the body safe but also the things of the world that I believe will make me happy. If I had a faster computer or better software, I would be happier. If certain people stay in my life in the form of a body, I will be happy. If certain other people stay out of my life, I will be happy. If I follow certain laws of nutrition, I will be safe. If my body functioned better in some way, I would be happy. If there were no talk of war in the world, I would feel safe. The list can go on and on.
All of these conditions are centered around the belief that I am a body. Yet the Course clearly tells me the body is an illusion and was made as a defense against God. It is not what God created. It was made by a mind believing in the false idea that separation is real. It is just an attempt to prove that separation really succeeded. And to maintain this illusion, all efforts to find salvation must center around the body.

Anytime you become fascinated by some material creation, close your eyes, look within, and contemplate its Source.
