DAILIES

Eye Opener (1950)
The sooner we alcoholics realize the fact that of sobriety by itself is not enough to insure real living, the better off we will be.

For us to emerge from our shell and then cease all growth is to stagnate, and stagnation is death itself to an alcoholic. Everything on this planet has a part in the Grand Scheme and unless we discover and act our little part, we are dead, and decay has already set in.

It is contrary to the laws of Nature for man to stand still. We either go ahead or we go back.

Twenty Four Hours A Day April 8,2016
Thought for the Day
Second, alcoholics recover their faith in a Power greater than themselves. They admit that they’re helpless by themselves and they call on that Higher Power for help. They surrender their lives to God, as they understand Him. They put their drink problem in God’s hands and leave it there. They recover their faith in a Higher Power that can help them. Have I recovered my faith?
Meditation for the Day
You must make a stand for God. Believers in God are considered by some as peculiar people. You must even be willing to be deemed a fool for the sake of your faith. You must be ready to stand aside and let the fashions and customs of the world go by, when God’s purposes are thereby forwarded. Be known by the marks that distinguish a believer in God. These are honesty, purity, unselfishness, love, gratitude, and humility.
Prayer for the Day
I pray that I may be ready to profess my belief in God before others. I pray that I may not be turned aside by the skepticism and cynicism of unbelievers.

Man already has within himself, the key to freedom,
but he must come to realize his relation to the whole.
This relationship is one of complete unity.

BB We Agnostics, p.46
We found that as soon as we were able to lay aside prejudice and
express even a willingness to believe in a Power greater than ourselves,
we commenced to get results, even though it was impossible for any of
us to fully define or comprehend that Power, which is God.

How long are you going to beat me like
a drum and make me sigh for you like a violin.
Your answer, “Come. I’ll hold you close and stroke you like a lute.”
But I feel more like a flute that you put in your mouth
 and then neglect to blow.

ACIM Workbook Lesson 98 Insights
“I will accept my part in God’s plan for salvation.”
The sentence that stands out to me the most in this lesson is: “We side with truth and let illusions go.” As I am willing to side with truth, all the silly ego squabbles found in this world of separate identities are seen as just plain silly. I am not as tempted to take them so seriously. As I am willing to side with truth, I am open to seeing the Light that lies beyond the separate images, beyond time and space. When I side with truth, I am siding with eternal reality and letting illusions go.
The illusions of bodies seem so important in this world — the struggle for survival, the desire to be entertained. But here Jesus shows me that God’s way works. God’s way brings me everything I really want. God’s plan brings me happiness and peace and certainty.
