DAILIES

 Eye Opener (1950)
To us alcoholics who were prone to give meanings to words
that were not intended by the speaker, words are particularly lethal weapon.
In our drinking days we invariably put the wrong interpretations on
the best-intended words of our friends.
We then sounded off with a flow of words that we did not mean and
knew full well that we did not mean them.
The thoughtless sentence or the fancied slight was
forever coming between us and those we loved.
The world’s attitude toward us, either friendly or hostile,
is largely determined by our own words.

Vernon Howard’s SECRETS OF LIFE

“If you do things in a new way, you will win a new life.
For example, never try to relieve the pressure
of an embarrassment.
Do not explain or plead or apologize.
If you do, you will not understand your embarrassment.
This means its cause will remain within you,
to pop up again and again.
Embarrassment is destroyed by watchfully enduring it.”

Twenty Four Hours A Day March 30,2016

Thought for the Day
Before I met A.A., I was very unloving. From the time I went away to school, I paid very little attention to my mother and father, I was on my own and didn’t even bother to keep in touch with them. After I got married, I was very unappreciative of my spouse. Many a time I would go out all by myself to have a good time. I paid too little attention to our children and didn’t try to understand them or show them affection. My few friends were only drinking companions, not real friends. Have I gotten over loving nobody but myself?
Meditation for the Day
Be calm, be true, and be quiet. Do not get emotionally upset by anything that happens around you. Feel a deep, inner security in the goodness and purpose in the universe. Be true to your highest ideals. Do not let yourself slip back into the old ways of reacting. Stick to your spiritual guns. Be calm always. Do not talk back or defend yourself too much against accusation, whether false or true. Accept criticism as well as you accept praise. Only God can judge the real you.
Prayer for the Day

I pray that I may not be upset by the judgment of others. I pray that I may let God be the judge of the real me.

Softly and kindly remind yourself, ”I cannot own anything.”
It is a valuable thought to keep in mind as you struggle to improve your financial picture,

worry about investments, and plan how to acquire more and more. It is a
universal principle which you are part of. You must release everything
when you truly awaken. Are you letting your life go by in frustration and
worry over not having enough? If so, relax and remember that you only
get what you have for a short period of time. When you awaken you will
see the folly of being attached to anything.
— Wayne Dyer

I used to be shy.
 You made me sing.
I used to refuse things at that table.
Now I shout for more wine.
 And somber dignity,
I used to sit on my mat and pray.
Now children run through and make faces at me.

ACIM Workbook Lesson 89 Insights
Review: “I am entitled to miracles.”
and “Let miracles replace all grievances.”
Being willing to unite my will with the Holy Spirit’s is what gives me a transformed perception, or a miracle. This takes my willingness to let go of grievances. This takes my willingness to let go of the belief in separate identities. It is my holding on to this belief that gives me the experience of separate identities. I am entitled to a healed mind because my real mind is one with the Mind of God.
It is helpful for me to recognize that I am ‘out of my mind’ when I perceive separate identities. This gives me the humility to have an open mind and step back and let myself be taught a new perception. This prayer helps me with this: “I open my mind to your healing Light, Holy Spirit. Right now, my mind is sick. It is perceiving separation. This does not bring me happiness. I am willing to see differently. I am willing to let go of my preconceived ideas.”
