Eye Opener (1950)
We alcoholics know that one drink is too much
 and a barrel isn’t enough.
That first drink starts the compulsion to drink.
Suppressing desires can become a habit
just as their satisfaction does.
Each time we Say “NO,” we weaken
the old habit and strengthen the new.
The efforts to satisfy our desires led
us to the excesses that brought about our alcoholism.
So let us follow the advice of John Stuart Mill and
“learn to seek our happiness by limiting our desires,
rather than attempting to satisfy them.”

Vernon Howard’s SECRETS OF LIFE
There was once a man with a compulsive need to deceive people, for
it gave him a feeling of power and superiority. Feeling ill one day,
he went to a doctor who gave him the correct medicine.
‘Take a spoonful every day,’ instructed the physician.
The man promised to do so.
Every morning the man poured out a spoonful of medicine, and with a
broad grin, poured it down the kitchen sink.
Of course, the man grew sicker and sicker every day, until he had to
enter a hospital. As the doctor approached, the man silently shouted
in triumph, ‘Ah! Another victim!’
_The first deception is self-deception_.”

Twenty Four Hours A Day SEPT 18,2016
Thought for the Day
Step Two is, “Came to believe that a Power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity.” Step Three is, “Made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God as we understood Him.” Step Eleven is, “Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God, as we understood Him, praying only for knowledge of His will for us and the power to carry that out.” The fundamental basis of A.A. is a belief in some Power greater than ourselves. Let us not take this lightly. We cannot fully get the program without this venture of belief. Have I made the venture of belief in a Power greater than my own?
Meditation for the Day
“He that dwelleth in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.” Dwell for a moment each day in a secret place, the place of communion with God, apart from the world, and thence receive strength to face the world. Material things cannot intrude upon this secret place, they cannot ever find it, because it is outside the realm of material things. When you abide in this secret place, you are under the shadow of the Almighty. God is close to you in this quiet place of communion. Each day, dwell for a while in this secret place.
Prayer for the Day
I pray that I may renew my strength in quietness. I pray that I may find rest in quiet communion with God.

Everyday and every hour, we are meeting
the Eternal realities of life,
and to such a degree as we cooperate with
these Eternal realities and love, peace,
and wisdom and enjoy – believing and receiving –
we are automatically blessed our prayer is
answered before it is ordered.

S.I.N. Self imposed nonsense.
Commonly heard at meetings, me, Ron

This season with the friend so near,
the body dims.
Heart-light grows more intense.
Storm clouds finally weep,
because the Lightning has started to laugh.
With happy tears everywhere coming down,
the fields get uncontrollably tickled.

ACIM Workbook Lesson 259 Insights
“Let me remember that there is no sin.”
Jesus describes sin as the insane idea that seeks to let illusions take the place of truth. But insane ideas are false, and so illusions could never take the place of truth. That is why there is no sin.
Jesus explains that it is hopeless to make illusions, even though we may experience separate forms as very real indeed. The Holy Spirit brings us Christ’s vision, which brings to our awareness the truth that lies beyond illusions.
My practice now is to see beyond illusions and remember that we have not changed ourselves from how God created us. We are still whole, perfect and complete. We are still extensions of God’s eternal perfect Love. We are still one in God. The game of sin has had no effect on reality. The game of sin is just insanity.
Today I would let it go with the help of the Holy Spirit, Who is always in my mind, waiting to return me to the truth that all is Love and nothing else. Today I will give time to remembering that there is no sin, there is no separation. Illusions of separate forms could never replace the truth. Only Heaven is truth and Jesus tells us that we are Heaven. Today I would practice letting illusions sink behind the truth. Today I would be still, with an open mind and listen. Today I would remember that there is no sin.
Remembering there is no sin brings freedom from guilt. I only feel guilt when I believe that I have done something to cause harm. But harm is impossible because I remain within the Mind of God, and God is harmless, being Love and nothing else.
It is possible for me to deceive myself by believing that I have harmed God by separating myself from Him. But belief does not make reality. If I believe that I can oppose the Will of God and make a world of separation, I will experience that world because of my desire and belief. But that does not affect God in the slightest. It only affects my experience of God because it substitutes illusions of separation for the reality of God’s Love.
The Course equates sin with the thought of separation and lack of Love. Since Love is all there is, totally unified and whole, lack of Love and separation could never be in truth. There is no sin. All that I believe I have done to cause harm has never occurred in truth. Illusions can appear to battle with illusions. Illusions can appear to destroy illusions, but these games of illusion can have no effect whatsoever on the reality of God’s Love, Which is our Home.
As I remember there is no sin, I open my mind to the recognition of the Love that I am in truth. All that is real in me is Love. Its only goal is to join with all that is real, everywhere. Love always unites with Love. Guilt is unimaginable in Love.
Let my heart be open today to see the unity and omnipresence of Love, everywhere. I would accept God’s gift today and know my Self.
The message I give myself when I am feeling sinful or seeing someone else as sinful is this:
No matter what is happening in my life today, at this moment, God loves me with an unwavering and unchanging love. He loves me with the same love with which He created me. Nothing I can do or say or think can have any effect on how God loves me.
This comforts me and reassures me. It leaves my mind free to realize that sin is an illusion and that all my “sins” have no real effect. Today I will watch my mind for belief in sin and each time I find this belief remind myself that there is no sin.

On the tract of eternity,
I built an unseen church where all might worship.
Here, under the blue dome, illumined by Sun,
Moon, Aurora, Milky Way, and wisdom lights,
are gathered the assembled star families,
island universes, solar systems,
and the little earth with its millions of votaries of many religions.

“Ah Love! could thou and I with Fate conspire
To grasp this sorry Scheme of Things entire,
Would not we shatter it to bits — and then
Re-mold it nearer to the Heart’s Desire!”
