Like I said, in the Big Book this man comes out of the cellar
coming out of the cellar looking around and saying isn’t life Grand? 
Not realizing that the people he hurt 
by the tornado he created in their life.

showed up at Ray’s Place, a popular restaurant.

A drunk driver hit the car I was in,

My neck was broken in 3 places and it took me 
8 months to learn how to walk all over again.

so that I could sleep on it.

was just trying to protect me.

35 years ago on PBS there was a program called Broadhead,
two guys drink a lot of one I followed the most had become an alcoholic.

I agreed to go to a meeting with this lady in San Francisco 
and I thought that I could learn how to drink more and suffer less.

I drank until I got sick and spent most of the night in the bathroom.

I have no idea why my boss put up with me. I was 
constantly running to the bathroom.

My first sponsor bought me the big book 
and I couldn’t concentrate, but I could 
read the stories in the back.

She suggested that I go to 30 meetings
in 30 days and I thought that, ‘I can do that’.

My subconscious suggested that I was an 
alcoholic and unless I stood up and admitted
 it I would continue to suffer.

Then I started listening to their problems 
and how they solve them.

I could admit that my life is unmanageable,
but I just couldn’t admit that I was an Alcoholic.

I would go to work, catch the Muni,

evening clothes in a bag.
I looked like a homeless lady.

 others and started at identifying with them.

out for cocktails and my mind said, cocktails? 
It took me many years to get back into the fellowship.

had never thought I would make it.

I was looking in the door of the club, 
this man said come on in this is 
where the medicine is.

I was living in my van in my boss 
parking lot and he would
could come out to to y van 
and knock on the door say it’s time to go to work.

My big brother had six warrants for 
his arrest because every time I got 
caught; I didn’t show up. 
My brother used to get arrested because 
of me because I had used his name 
at  every police stop.

The judge told me it was a year in jail 
or treatment. I went to in-house treatment.

In treatment I discovered that I was an alcoholic, 
that was in1983.

I try to practice these principles in all my Affairs.

shut up and you might make it.

I found it was my job to understand rather

He died eight years ago and

 where we read each promise from each step.

spiritually fit if I’m going to be helping anyone.

for five years, and I thought that 
was a little excessive.

I finally learned the Lord’s Prayer. 
Jesus Christ as my higher power 
today but that’s just for me, it

went back to Alcoholics Anonymous.

it was now certified that my husband doesn’t listen to me.

she said well then do it afraid then just do it

In Kuwait when you get shot at the Serenity Prayer
went out to right out the window.

I wasn’t grateful when I got here but my
sponsor said to me, does your left thumb hurt,
I said no then he said, did you right  thumb hurt 
and I said no, and he said then you’ve got
something to be grateful for.
